What Is a Punjabi Jaggo?

A Jaggo is a joyful Punjabi pre‑wedding tradition that celebrates the upcoming marriage with music, dance, and lots of vibrant energy. The word Jaggo means “wake up”—and that’s exactly the spirit of the event: waking up the community to share in the happiness of the wedding.

During the celebration, family and friends carry a beautifully decorated pot lit with candles or lights, taking turns dancing with it and passing it around. Guests often join in with decorated sticks, traditional songs, and lively dancing. It’s a colorful, upbeat night meant to spread excitement, bring loved ones together, and set the tone for the day ahead. Traditional Mehndi (Henna) will be provided at the Jaggo.
